Ansley HAL Program
Ansley students will be given the MAPS test and STARS exams throughout the year. These tests not only show yearly progress in several academic fields, but are used for possible placement in the Ansley School District’s High Ability Learner (HAL) Program. To be eligible for placement, the Ansley Public School HAL program requires students to meet one of two qualifications. Students must average an 80% or above on the four MAPS tests or average an 80% or above on both the STARS Math and Reading exams.
Based on these criteria, your child may or may not qualify to participate in Ansley Schools’ HAL program and, with your permission, will be enrolled in HAL class projects during the 2019-2020 school year.
Our goal is to meet with HAL students at minimum once a week to offer a variety of enrichment activities. These meetings will occur during the school day and will require that they miss classroom time. HAL students may occasionally be involved in activities that require them to travel to an event. In these instances, arrangements will be made ahead of time with the classroom teachers as well as the parents.
